Semos is a UK-based language consultancy. Our aim is to deliver integrated language services of an exceptionally high standard.
We are looking for people with a scientific background who are able to write fluently in their native language. In short, for linguist-scientists.
What are integrated language services?
Our work is varied. You might translate a doctoral thesis from Czech into English. Or edit an article on turbulent flow. Or proofread a paper on intracellular trafficking of macromolecules. Or write an English-language guide for international delegates to a conference on gene therapy in
We can do a lot. But everything we do is governed by a simple principle: quality. We would never return anything that we felt could be improved upon.
Whom do we want?
You should:
- Be a professional or academic with a scientific background OR a post-graduate science student OR under-graduate science student at an elite university
- Have, or be expected to achieve, a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) or higher
- Be able to write fluently and accurately in your native language

What do you get?

- Flexibility. You would be a self-employed freelancer, and would not be obliged to accept any piece of work. Work is negotiated on a job-by-job basis. You would be able to increase or decrease your work-load in response to changing academic commitments.
- Good rates of pay. We grade all our work by type, complexity, and urgency. As a Semos linguist, you will be able to determine your own rates of pay within each grade.
