Terms & Conditions - undertaking work for us implies acceptance of the following:

1. Quality of Service: It is your responsibility to ensure that the work is of a high standard and is delivered by the deadline. We expect our freelancers to be available to make any necessary changes in their own time and at their own expense. If you are not available to make such changes, or if the quality of the work submitted is such that we do not believe that you would be qualified to make the necessary changes, then we reserve the right to deduct any expenses incurred by us (heavy editing/ retranslation costs) from your invoice.

2. Payment: We pay our freelance linguists in GBP by the end of the month in which the invoice is received. Linguists should send us an invoice between the 1st and the 10th of the month for all work carried out in the preceding month. For example, if you were to complete three pieces of work over the course of August 2007, you would need to send us a single consolidated invoice for all three jobs between the 1st of September and the 10th of September, which would be settled by the end of September. You will receive "successful completion confirmation" emails on the last day of the month in respect of every job succefully completed within that month; all details you need for your invoice will be provided therein.

3. Proofreading: You are required to check your work carefully. We are, on occasion, asked to have translations independently proofread, but this consideration must not be regarded as excusing you from checking your work thoroughly.

4. Legal status: You carry out all work for Semos Language Services as a self-employed freelancer. It is therefore entirely your responsibility to register with any relevant fiscal authority and pay any taxes and National Insurance contributions due. Semos Language Services neither collects nor pays taxes on your behalf.

5. Confidentiality: You must treat as confidential and not at any time for any reason disclose or permit to be disclosed to any person, or otherwise make use of or permit to made use of any information relating to any work carried out for Semos Language Services by you, save where you have been instructed or permitted in wriing to do so.

6. Copyright: The copyright to, ownership of, and control over any information provided to you by Semos Language Services relating to any work carried out for Semos Language Services is retained by Semos Language Services or its client(s) throughout. This extends to client or linguist contact details provided to you by Semos Language Services (or indeed provided to us by our client(s) and subsequently provided to you by us) for the purposes of carrying out work for Semos Language Services - all such information is proprietory; you may not exploit any such information commercially.
